I know that it was originally my idea to start this and believe me, I was ready to get started, but my body truly wasn't. After working out consistently 3-4 times a week for at least an hour each time and religiously following Weight Watchers, nothing would budge. This truly discouraged me so I gave up and just started to eat whatever I felt like eating. However, I did continue to work out so the only damage that was done was a gain of 8 pounds. Sounds like ALOT, but I knew that I would get back into the swing of things after the holiday season. Who can give up all the cake, cookies, ham, potatoes, etc????? I knew I couldn't, so why tease myself. My first goal was to start back up on watching what I was eating on Monday, January 3rd. However, I woke up Saturday, January 1 and decided that was the day I wanted to start. So, I did. I weighed in at 204 pounds. I knew I had packed on a few pounds over the holidays, but knew that with hard work, dedication, and a good support network, I could get back on track. I am tying to following a modified version of the diet that my friend Ann is doing. So here is what I am eating.
Breakfast: 1 Slimfast shake and a piece of fruit
Snack: Piece of fruit or 100 calorie snack (Slim Fast bar)
Lunch: 1 piece of chicken seasoned with Crisco olive oil spray and a dry rub and a piece of fruit
Snack: A piece of fruit
Dinner: A "sensible" portion of whatever my husband has made. If he doesn't make anything then I would eat a piece of chicken!
Snack: A piece of fruit
*** If any of you follow weight watchers, the new system that they have created allows for as many fruits and vegetables as you want. They are considered to be free points, so that is why my diet is heavy on the fruit. There aren't too many veggies that I will just sit and eat. Studies that they ran proved that there wasn't any effect as to the number of pounds that were lost and the amount of fruits and vegetables that someone ate. Those that ate as many fruits and veggies as they wanted lost the same amount as those that counted the fruits and veggies they ate.***
I have been doing this regimen since Saturday and as of this morning, I am down to 198 pounds. So, by drastically reducing the number of calories that I am consuming, I have lost 6 pounds. Yeah Me! Don't get me wrong, I feel like a crack addict that has come off their last high. Although I have never been "addicted" to anything other than food, depriving myself of that little handful of goldfish or that one piece of candy has been a real challenge. If I can make it a full week, it will be a "home" run! My goal is to continue with this eating regimen for 6 weeks. If I am successful, I will continue until I am in the middle of the BMI range I am supposed to be in.
I am also continuing to work out 3-4 times a week doing a variety of classes at the local rec center. Hopefully by combining a restricted diet with exercise, my body will finally relent and let me get rid of all this baby fat and then some!! Beach body here I come! HAHA!!! :-)
Stayed tuned for the next update!!!!!
I would do WW. They have taken the low carb approach except you are allowed to eat fruit. I like that. At this point I am sure it would work for me. I am going to stick to what I am doing. My next appointment with the nurtitionist is in Feb. Hey, perhaps I can join you at Sunset this year! Double beach! :)
