Road to 70.3
I have this blog but I never seem to touch it. I guess taking some time to write down thought may add for good memories years from now when I look back on this. Heck, I love reading Swim Bike Mom and I could of been her. I don't think I have the mental strength to be her yet but I am working on it. It's a beautiful summer day here in the Falls and I am actually looking forward to my hour run which will have to wait until this evening. Cool temperatures are so much more appealing than hot temperatures.
So for those of you who didn't know, I (along with a good friend), decided to sign up for a 1/2 Iron this July. It is a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, followed by a 13 mile run. I have done all three at this point on their own. Now I get to put them all together. This great feat comes with some great looking spandex and laughs about body parts that chaff. It really is all great fun!
This week happens to be an active recovery week so I have three days off from working out. It is something I really needed but I am starting to feel a little lazy. I actually had a nice slow bike ride yesterday with my father and we explored some new bike trails (which you don't venture on much with a road bike). It was nice to have some father daughter time and also establish that my chaffing from a ride/run a few days ago didn't bother me.
So this is what's up with me right now. Yep....talking about myself, let me hear about everyone else.

Woops! Link
I accidentally changed the blog link and can't figure out how to fix it. This link should take you to the blog if you want to post
2013 Here we are.....
So I sat today and read through random blogs of people who had made these great accomplishments, whether it would be weight loss, a sporting event, or something else amazing. This blog has been sitting for about a year and I think it's time we start sharing and communicating our ups and downs of Doing it For Us! I am adding a few more people in here from my Made to Crave class. The book(I actually just finished it) has been very powerful. It's made me thing about what the power of food can do to a person. I would recommend it to everyone. Here is the link:
A good read and I can say that in these few Jan. days I have been using it as a tool to not eat things I shouldn't eat. I have decided that this year I want to push myself harder and further than I have in the past. I'll need some help. I tend to negative self talk myself and give up but I am hoping that I can overcome those thoughts and accomplish some goals. Today I did a 7.3 mile run. Yes, I've run further but it's been while. I was also running with some super fast people. I saw their tushies for about 2 miles and then they were gone. My friend Jen, even though she is much faster, stayed with me. When she got ahead, she would turn around and come back. I called her my rabbit but she kept me going. I've now decided I need to do more runs like that and maintain eye contact on the tushies for a longer period of time. We all need people like Jen to keep us motivated.
Let me know how everyone is doing! It's been awhile!
